MOM Godzilla in Plastic!

#1 Post by Scooke123 »

Looks like the pattern for the MOM Godzilla has been made into a styrene kit just like the Metaluna Mutant. 2 are on eBay right now selling as a "monster" along with either the Mutant repro long box or with box and a Mutant kit. Priced at $150 & $195.

Look up the Metaluna Mutant to see the listings - won't come up under Godzilla.

There could be some legal repercussions using the word "Godzilla" as I would guess that this is an "unlicensed" item AND it's new rather than vintage...

Very interesting.
I count 17 completed listings for this item, and no current auctions.

For anyone interested in seeing it, here is one of the completed listings

Did the original proto not have the usual MOM base? The Metaluna Mutant has it but Godzilla doesn't?

Godzilla doesn't have it. Metaluna Mutant didn't either as I recall. It was added when the kits made it into styrene. Anyone with more information can feel free to correct me, as my old gray matter ain't what it used to be. The Christina prototype out there doesn't have it either as I recall. Not sure about the Fay Wray/Bride of Kong prototype. I know the resin one had a base, but not sure if that was an add on like Mutant's was. Hope this helps.

You stand corrected. The Fay Wray is owned by Melmento Pete.I should be getting my two Godzillas tomorrow so going to match the base up to reissue rodan base that have laying around. If it fits will start smoothing it out.

I think you mis-understood me. I didn't state the same individual owned all those prototypes. I honestly don't know any of the individuals in question beyond on screen handles. I have bought "Sceners" kits from Molemento, but that's all I know of the name. What I was addressing was the bases. I know Big Z. didn't get that far. I don't think Metaluna did. I wasn't sure on that one though. I know Christine doesn't have one, just a stone block from what I read in a book long ago. I have zippo knowledge of Fay. I had a resin one at one point in time, and wound up selling her off. That one had a base....but I am also uncertain if the proto had a base or if it was an after market add on, like you are speaking of doing for your Zilla. So, while I am not opposed to being corrected, I think you misunderstood me. But since I've got you: did Mutant actually have a base designed by Aurora that made it into proto type stage? Howabout Bride of Kong? Or were they after market for offerings in limited numbers? Thanks.

Ah, merci. Now we know. Make sure to let everyone (or me at least, lol) see what comes of using a Rodan MOM base for your Zilla. If that works, Imma have to do it too. Although Ghidrah might be easier. Less to get rid of on his square than Rodan's.

Unconfuse me when you all are talking MM bases? I know when the
orig prototype came up on eBay (the one Phil bought), it had a base...

So where am I not understanding you guys?

(You're not talking about the clapper board are you?)

Lol, you can tell we are all confused. What Wolfman and I were discussing was the square base with clapper board. The prototypes were never shown with any, yet Mutant and Bride of Kong had one when the limited editions for them saw the lighh of day. hence they were added for such and not in initial production at Aurora. I am probably not making sense here either, lol. Me not tech savvy.:drool2:

Using a Rodan or Ghidorah MOM base is a great idea. When my Godzilla arrives I'll have to see which one works best.

Godzillas base is bigger in length and width.
