Nice vocals by Lzzy - tjis song was given to Celine Dion who released it in 1998 and was one of her best selling Christams songs. Not everybody"s cup of tea but showcases Lzzy's vocals, Dee's weren't shabby either!
Not bad at all. I'll be adding this to the holiday mix.

The other one is fine, but not even Lzzy can save that song.
I never liked that song, never liked the Black Crows either.

I would have put this in its own thread – but what the heck – I’m feeling unusually rebellious so wanted to “break the rules” (I know – not my nature huh?)

OK – on with the “review” . . .

      • Image

The singer is perfect for these guys, the “Sons” are great musicians – and I don’t have to let you know what I think of uncle Phil :D

Lyrics are occasionally a bit OTT in the swearing department (I’m a sensitive soul) so I could do with that being dialed down a bit – but I still love this album.

I’d STRONGLY suggest making use of this OFFICIALLY UPLOADED playlist for the album  https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=O ... lRMkX9vB58 . . . just turn up the volume, click the link, and ABSORB !!!!!

A 6:6:1 ratio makes this a blimmin’ classic! – choose to ignore it? you’re missing out big time.

Definitely the album of 2020 for me – and guess what my Son (who just totally coincidentally got an extra share in my will) bought for me (before they sold out some time back) . . .

Here is one song I have been obsessing about for the past week or so
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y69gQtAdHKc

Black Sheep from the movie Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
With Brie Larson on vocals.
The video is cool, and brings back so many great memories from such an amazing movie.
But I enjoy the song more when not watching the video with it playing in the background. The vocals are really good and just have a great vibe.

And here is one that I have also been obsessing over since it dropped at the beginning of the week.

The Pretty Reckless - And So It Went

As usual with this band, it jams. And Taylor's vocals kill it! Not so much with her trademark snarl, but the soft bit in the middle. It's just so surprising and so not what I am used to. And so well done.

Geez - I'd love to link the new track I was told about today - REALLY powerful/effective lyrics, but it probably lies within "banned topics" areas.

I guess this is the final sign that the world has gone crazy . . . because Spike GENUINELY LIKES a rap song (the first EVER!)

Now they have an official video out, not just the lyric video.

And as usual, things are definitely better when you get to SEE Taylor do her thing :)

Sorry fellas - just does NOTHING for me (in any capacity) (* Spike wanders off in shame *)

This hit BW&BK earlier today so I managed about a minute into it. Reminded me a bit of GnR - that's not a bad thing - but the band/singer/music just don't appeal to me.

Off to listen to some more (c)rap . . . (that last line was a joke in case you think I've been corrupted!)

This is yet another of those "FORTY YEARS since the release of . . . " posts (* and there's plenty MORE due over the next few years *)

Easily my fave album by the boys. I was drawn in by its precursor "Permanent Waves", but this sealed-the-deal that they were special.

RUSH - "Moving Pictures"

I loved all the music I was exposed to around this time - you can't beat the late 70's through the early 90's. The sense of "tribe", of having "found my place" was unmistakable.

                  • Side A
                    • 1) Tom Sawyer
                      2) Red Barchetta
                      3) YYZ
                      4) Limelight
                    Side B
                    • 1) The Camera Eye
                      2) Witch Hunt
                      3) Vital Signs

You didn't have to post the track listing. I know if by heart.
It was the first album I owned by Rush.
I remember sitting in my basement bedroom listening to the record with my big headphones on.
Usually with the lights out, so I could visualize the picture they were painting with the music and the lyrics.

New track that really showcases their bluesy side.

Not too sure about the actual lyrics, but man does she have some pipes.

I'll listen to that new link in a sec - I've had my head full of this young lady (and her pals) for the last 2 days.

Brightened my mood when I was seriously pissed off.

Thanks to BW&BK (again), I caught the 1st track - a brand new song from the new band she's in - and was blown away by her voice.

Instantly thought of Ann Wilson (who's voice I adore) - sound EXACTLY like her! The song is a little "poppy" as rock goes . . . perhaps even "overproduced" . . . but it's still great. Reminded me of a cross between Evanescence & Halestorm (which can't be bad).

Did some digging and found about about her history, how good the drummer is, and the fact that the "Heart" connection was by more than the vocal chords (see the other links below). She was also apparently on a TV show called "the Voice" (which I know nothing about).

This lady (and hopefully, the band) have "star" written ALL over them.

Geezus that lady has a voice-and-a-half       Image

Oh yeah - posting straight after the first listen-through - EASILY the best thing I've heard by them.

The tell-tale is the goosebumps on your arms and the shiver down your back - LOVE IT! (much more my cup-of-tea)

Not sure what the lyrics are saying (I suspect that girl's a bit "deep").

Thanks for the link (and perseverance/patience) - 2nd listen incoming . . . :)

    • (* EDIT after 2nd listen - AGAIN with the "Bond theme" vibe - still liking it *)
