OMG - WTF did I just watch? (Shadow in the Cloud)

#1 Post by bucketfoot-al »

OK. Take some psychedelic mushrooms, some real good Jamaican GANJA, 10 bottles of 100-year old Jack Daniels, give them to two screenwriters, lock them in a room for a week ... and even then they might not come up with a concept as bizarre as this movie ... and how do they sell it to the studio - who actually fronts the $$$??? :rolf: O.M.G.

WHAT. DID. I. JUST. WATCH.???!!!??!

*BUT*

In the end ... it was VERY enjoyable. (Even my wife liked it and thought it was fun- WAIT - WHAT??!!? :shock: )

I really, REALLY don't want to give anything away here, I am so torn ....

.... but there is SOMETHING in this movie that is worthy of a model kit (there, I weaved The Hobby into it) ... :wink:

Theme:

WW2 B-17 secret flight;

WAC pilot stowaway with a secret package;

The ... THING ... "Shatner saw on the wing" (and I'll say no more) ...;

Jap Zeros and Aichi fighters on the hunt;

Claustrophobia .... lots and lots of claustrophobia ...;

Female heroine;

Temporary suspension of the laws of physics (de rigeour for movies these days, dontch'a know) :mrgreen:;

Hint - Remember "Jason and the Argonauts" ... and the Greek Temple scene with the blind man ...; :toilet:

WTF did I just watch? (I might have to watch it again....you probably might like it, too - don't want to spoil the surprise by giving it away ...)

It's on my to watch soon list. Been on an unhealthy WW2 movie watching binge lately of absolute crap to dang awesome. Mostly like to see the accuracy of the uniforms.

Quoted the bits I 100% agree with - but then I agree with most of what Vlad posted.

BEST ADVICE :arrow: go into this knowing as little as possible (including the comments on this thread!)

I enjoyed this from end-to-end - a STEP UP from an old Twilight Zone episode, and it kept me on the edge of my seat THROUGHOUT! A real roller-coaster ride of intensity, tension & suspense even with the FREQUENT (as Vlad said) "suspension of the laws of physics".

Chloë Grace Moretz is absolutely PERFECT in this - incredible acting. So VERY VERY good =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

As regards some of the dialogue . . . what has been labelled "man hating" in some quarters of the interwebs, I saw as a reasonable "exaggeration" of how guys under stress in WW2 would have communicated.

The special effecs were seamless/faultless (WETA group so no surprises there!) and the whole thing was great fun, leaving me wanting more.

Please ignore any negative reviews you see of this - just watch it and enjoy.

LOVED IT !!!!!!!!

Yup, what the effin' #¥@× did I just watch? Is it a euphemism for menstruation? I can't even pretend to understand how to peel back the layers.
Went in not knowing anything which really helped. Good acting, shot well just turn off your brain. As much as I was thinking bs and give me a break that scene under the plane had me at the edge of my seat.
Soundtrack was pretty good too.
