Here I thought you were going to post some of the other videos that have popped up recently.
Was pleasantly surprised to see these.

I didn't even know about the South Park 25th anniversary concert.
But seeing this rendition of Closer To The Heart is amazing.

K - full disclosure up-front . . . the thread is called "What song caught your attention today?" . . . this means I don't have to JUST post about stuff I'd have on my playlist.

Which brings me to this - the latest release from Electric Callboy - "HURRIKAN".

I'm not providing a link OR pic because the music is not to my taste, and neither is the subject matter . . .
    • . . . but it DID make me laugh at certain points despite me cringing through (particularly) the latter half

I'll be keeping my eyes open for an English language translation of the lyrics though :)

But going back to my usual routine on this thread, I was shocked to realise I've never posted about these ladies before even though I've been an admirer for a LONG time (through ALL the lineup changes).

I'd compare them to Airbourne at their best, and AC/DC when they were good . . . and I hope they can maintain their energy & enthusiasm in the same way they have so far.

Their latest upload from their new album (released today) . . . not too shabby - not too shabby at-all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The ladies were pretty good.
Nothing that would make me add them to the playlist, but I wouldn't mind seeing them open a show.

As for the new EC song. . .
We pretty much agree :o
The first part is meh but at least there is some eye candy. The second part is fun to watch but not that interesting.

Hey. They all can't be winners.

Catching up on this from 2 months back  http://theclubhouse1.net/phpBB3/viewtop ... start=2343 (thanks again Mark!)

BW&BK mentioned that they were touring with another band I like - "Dirty Honey" - https://bravewords.com/news/dorothy-joi ... ival-dates

As per bloody usual - nowhere close to the musical touring desert they call British Columbia - so I'll (yet again) live vicariously through the internetsies.

The latest album can be listened to in its entirety here  https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=2SqPW ... PaYSkhL9Xc

I'm a fan of the track that Mark linked, plus a couple of others (although the lady's voice is amazing on ALL tracks - like a cross between Alannah Myles & Lzzy Hale) - but here's my 2nd-most fave off this album . . .

Just 1 page (and 6 weeks) back I posted THIS  http://theclubhouse1.net/phpBB3/viewtop ... start=2373

And as coincidence would have it (given we're closing on 50 . . . FIFTY ! . . . years since release), our lass at "The Charismatic Voice" was prompted to listen to the title track of the 1st album just a couple of days ago.

As I was watching her smile from ear-to-ear, BEAMING with joy . . . she made me cry - she GETS it !!!!!!!!!

I had the same look on my face (but with worse teeth) as I absorbed her GENUINE reaction Image Image . . . as the lady said herself . . . "such a rush!" :bgrin:

Brad Delp was a GOD amongst vocalists, and like too many of my heroes, I wish someone had been able to help him through his challenges before it was too late. That someone who created (and will forever create) so much happiness, was himself cursed with depression is a terrible irony.

RIP Brad dude - WHAT a legacy to leave.

And this is why I love college radio.
This song is 8 years old, yet I have never heard it, or even heard of the band.
And you would never hear it on a commercial radio station.
But I loved it when I heard it

I tried some of their other stuff, but didn't hear anything that grabbed me like this song did.

I've had this song stuck in my head for over 2 weeks now. All thanks to my daughter. After so many hours in her car listening to her playlist it just stuck. Then it doesn't help that it keeps coming on the radio as well.

Well this came as quite a pleasant surprise. I wasn't too impressed with the bulk of Halestorm's latest album - "Back From The Dead" but they are apparently going to release a "DELUXE" version on December 9th 2022 with seven bonus tracks.

They've just released the 1st single from this, and it threw me a bit at first . . . it doesn't sound like ANYTHING they have released before.

It's more "pop rock" (even more than the 1st album) than heavy rock, and Lzzy's voice sounds different - still great - but different.

Reminds me of Billy Idol / Steve Stevens (the voice intonation & especially the guitar solo!), along with Pat Benatar, perhaps a touch of Blondie, and something else I can't quite place. Deff 80's vibe though, and OBVIOUS choice for a movie or TV show soundtrack!

I don't know if it's guest songwriters, or if it's an alternate production team on this, or what, but I love it!

If I didn't know this was Halestorm, I wouldn't have believed it.
Sounds nothing like them. Other than a bit of the vocals during the chorus I could hardly even tell it was Lzzy.

Not a fan. But hey, lots of bands like to experiment, and if that is what they want to do, fine.
Just hope to get back to more of the rockers in the future.

This one has been catching my ear on the radio the last few weeks.

Something about that riff, and that beat reminds me of someone else, but I just can't put my finger on it.

Love the band, and Lzzy is a goddess amongst us.

With these bonus tracks adding to the original version, Halestorm and Ghost have topped the "new releases" list for me this year - no question.

I'll hopefully get to check out the new Halestorm tracks tonigh.

Here is something I finally watched today.

It's kind of chaotic and goofy at times, but also a ton of fun watching them geek out together.

Got a chance to check out those Halestorm bonus tracks.

• Mine
Pure 80's fun! Sounds like it should be on a movie soundtrack. Much more mainstream than what I expect from them, but it just sounds amazing!
• Heavy MeNtal (F**k Yeah)
 I want to be there for this live!
Just good old get-off-your-ass-and-move rock with a fun theme to the lyrics.
• Legendary
Bluesy feel with Lzzy's patented snarl
• Wannabe
Hmmm. Kind of hard to describe this one. Best I can come up with is 80's chick-rock with enough of Lzzy's hard edge to make it really interesting.
• You Ony Die Once
Solid rocker. Nothing special, but nothing wrong with it.
• Alien
Nice slower song. Not a ballad, but not a full on rocker either. Somewhere in between. With a beautiful guitar solo. This would be a nice break to catch your breath during a live show.
• Special
This is classic Halestorm. Nice crunchy guitars with Lzzy's beautiful voice.

Not a bad one in the bunch. And a few are gonna get some heavy replay.
Mine, Special, and Heavy Mental specifically.

Yeah.

I've heard "Mine" more than the others since it was the one released way ahead of the rest.

So far, it's "Wannabe" that sits up at the top with it (listened to that 5 or 6 times) . . . still waiting for the lyrics to be released - and some sort of hint at who Lzzy aimed this at :) (I have a couple of guesses).

I enjoy the others more than most of the tracks on the original album release.

Having said that, I don't know if I'd have been as interested in these if it was anyone other than Halestorm. Lzzy's voice with this new sound just works, but if it was another artist - I'm not so sure. I think I was most certainly biased given my usual dislike for "poppy" stuff.
