Well, topping off a monumentally $hitty week, where bad news, lost friends and total assholes combined to make me pissed-off at pretty much the entire human race, I at least knew I had THIS to look forward to.

There was a "leaked" YouTube video that was uploaded by a number of people over the last 2 months (and then each was made "private" a couple of days after uploading) that included a full ONE MINUTE snapshot of each of the 12(13) tracks on the album. Having listened to those, the vinyl was ordered after the 1st play-through (let alone the multiple times I got to listen before each was taken down).

Well, today was the official release, and the playlist is here . . .

The talent in this band is off the charts . . . Reb's guitar work, Kip's AMAZING vocals (how does he get even better as the years go by?), Kip's multi-genre influenced production and musical directing, and 3 other solid musicians whose genuine friendship over 30+ years SHINES through . . . this band is truly one-of-a-kind.

OMG. Chills. EVERY track is so different. So impressive.

Winger are possibly the most underappreciated, unfairly overlooked, and unjustly maligned band in the history of rock.

"Pull" + "Karma" and now "Seven" all fall into that very short list of albums that can be categorised as "absolute perfection" .

I can only hope that more and more folks get to hear tracks from this new album, and then realise what they have been missing all these years.

Much like Ghost's "Impera" from 2022, I can tell already that this is likely to be my album of the year for 2023.

I linked to the original (album) version this time last year when the album came out  viewtopic.php?f=14&t=11179&start=2309

I like this new version too.

I didn't know who Ashley McBryde was but did some research. She has a nice voice too.

This is hardly the most cheerful video you'll watch, but it gets the desired point & message over, and the lyrics continue to be powerful & appropriate.

Love this song (and love that Lzzy has her long hair back). Nice subtle cameos from the rest of the band too.

Thanks for sharing that.
You are right, not the most cheerful thing, but it is beautiful none-the-less.

FINALLY we get a new track from "In This Moment" . . . PERFECT for "James Bond" titles, and it's played in it's entirety over the end credits of John Wick Chapter 4.

I recognised Maria's voice immediately (chills as always), and the production quality on this is off the charts :cloud9:

Originally released in 1993, and unfairly dismissed & maligned primarily as a result of "Beavis & Butt-head" and Metallica, I still think this is Winger's finest hour (most of their fans agree).

A 30-year anniversary vinyl has been released in HOT ORANGE, and my copy finally turned up today Image

This is the 2nd copy - the 1st turned up a couple of weeks ago and the box had been mislabelled (record company's fault - not Amazon's) . . . it was silver/grey vinyl rather than the bright orange - so that went back

Impossible to pick a fave track as the entire album is just so damn good - the music, musicianship and lyrics (SO on the nose!) are all perfect throughout Image :bannana: Image :bannana: Image :bannana:

Gave each track a listen. Only one that grabbed me was Who's The One.

None of them sounded bad or anything, just didn't make me want to listen to them.

As to my addition to this thread.
Olivia Rodrigo - brutal
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHMpcUojLMU
Not a new song, but new to me (thanks to hearing The Warning cover it live)

A little different from my usual fair.
I love the stripped down punk feel of this. Reminds me of the early 2000's when there was more of this kind of stuff.
Just reminds me of simpler times.

That's a shame, I was hoping a listen all the way through would convert you :)

If I'd had to pick ONE track I thought you'd catch on to - I would have guessed at "Junkyard Dog" (possibly the heaviest track on the album).

Never mind - each to their own after all.

It's one of my "go-to" albums when I want to shut out the world- just "gives me positive vibes man" :cloud9:

Yeah - you def have an interest in material with a punk feel/style . . . may explain your fondness for the 1st 2 Maiden albums too (neither of which were in my top 5 Maiden list - but I think both were in YOURS).

Not a bad song, and you've finally found a band with more guitarists than Maiden and Winger

I did like the heaviness of the song, and the way the melody subverted that for the chorus, but they lyrics and delivery just didn't do it for me.

Nope, the one in my top 5 that always surprises you is DOD. (along with BNW, POM, NOTB, SIT)
The first two help round out the top 10 with PS, SSOASS, and TBOS.

Ah yeah - top 10 not top 5. Serves me right for not taking the time to check the actual post.

Still - not sure those 2 would make it into my top 10 either :-k

Well, for me, they top anything from the 90's.
And I only like 3 albums from this century, so, that puts them in the top 10 by default.

Here is another song that I've been playing a bit since it was released.

Cha Cha Cha (Eurovision metal cover by Leo Moracchioli)

And another entry in the "Vinyl Ian is buying because it's one of his favourite albums" list . . .

Got this on CD the day it came out (April 2008), but given my penchant for re-buying the VERY BEST, this lovely NEW/SEALED DOUBLE ALBUM got added a couple of weeks back.

Slight confusion with the seller resulted in it ending up in the UK storage vault (temporarily), but I can wait :)

Not a bad track on the album (and much prefer the original to the JUST released/remixed "STILL Good To Be Bad") . . .

Oh my ****ing god(dess) . . . that WOMAN is unbelievable (and the rest of the band are pretty blimmin' impressive too!)

June 18th 2023, Hellfest festival in Clisson, France.

Pro-shot video of the entire show  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PygyyYZ-Hc

The sheer power of that lady's voice just smacks you in the face . . . like a razor-blade scraping down a cheese grater, all wrapped in velvet.

I'll NEVER understand why these folks are not universally recognised as the #1 band in the world.

Setlist:
  • "Raise Your Horns" (intro)
    "I Miss The Misery"
    "Love Bites (So Do I)"
    "I Get Off"
    "Crazy On You" (Heart)
    "Wicked Ways"
    "Familiar Taste Of Poison"
    "Takes My Life"
    - drum solo -
    "Back From The Dead"
    "The Steeple"
