Goddam. I missed this thread completely back in 2018. Often wondered where Ignatz had gone. Hope he is still fighting.

Used to love chatting with him on stuff back in the 2000s when I was first active on the CH before life had me take a longish hiatus.

Hopefully I'm not breaking confidences in sharing this - I'll take it down immediately (and will apologise) if this should not be posted here.

Steven stopped posting here (last post Sept 2019, last active Feb 2023), but had been posting on Facebook when he was able (see the link below for some context).

Another kind member (we have so many of those here) sent me some details in Jan 2023 about how Steven & his family have adapted to his deteriorating condition. Heartbreaking news, but shows the strength of both Steven AND his Wife.

As I put in my reply to the person that sent ME the link . . . each update from Steven's longer post resulted in an increased watering of my eyes, several clasps of my palm to my mouth in horror, and a multitude of words that are best not uttered in polite company. I was (and am) so upset to hear what he is going through, and found myself physically shaking as I struggled to comprehend the reality he & his family were/are dealing with.

Most who have been here long-term will know Steven as a member of the staff, someone who (along with others) spent many thousands of hours participating, maintaining and moderating.

What almost EVERYONE here does NOT realise, is the HUGE amount of financing that Steven supplied to keep The Clubhouse alive in gaps between funding drives - trust me - WAY WAY more than anyone else in the forums history.

Always pleasant to deal with, incredibly intelligent & knowledgeable, a great sense-of-humour . . . I miss him here, but admire the man even more for the way he has coped.

I was just going to nudge Trev to add anything else he knows - but he's just posted as I was typing this up.

Thanks for posting that Spike. I feel for he and his family so. What an admirable, wise and courageous man Steve Lee is. I am ashamed that I rarely feel the gratitude he expresses.

We would all do well to remember his words about the threads and ties that connect us. That here, on board, we all have a responsibility to act with care and kindness. You never know what people are dealing with.

Just became aware of this, and I'm so very sorry for him and his family. It's sad, but also inspiring, and that says more about his character and his importance to this hobby than I can.
