Polar Lights Big Godzilla re-paint

#1 Post by Tim Casey »

After my recent buildup of the original Aurora Godzilla, I decided to take another shot at the big Godzilla from Polar Lights. I had built and painted it when it came out years ago, but I really hadn't done much about the seams. This time, however, I worked hard on them; I also used the color scheme that I had just used on the Aurora model.

Here's the old buildup of it:

Have fun, and go build a model!

Nice job with the seams Tim! And the colors are more subtle - particularly like the eyes! :D

Nice one Tim. Looks great.

Your old build was much better than my first effort at this kit.

Really nice build-up Tim. Thanks for sharing it.

I think I need to revisit mine. You first effort was a lot better than mine.

Bad is right! Luckily I didn't need to disassemble it, but as I was working on the seams, I was astounded by how many there were. Each section of the body had a ton of parts, probably because of the size (and resulting greater detail) and the fact that styrene molds are not flexible. I don't know how I put it together without cursing.

Actually, now that I think of it, I remember cursing profusely...

If I EVER put one together without cursing (usually in several colorful languages), it will be a sign that the build was not challenging enough. :alcoholic: :mrgreen2:

OR you have low quality standards. Maybe this is me 'cause I actually enjoyed building this kit.

In my case, the cursing is almost always preceded by me hitting my finger/cutting my finger with a hammer/x-acto tool or dropping something and losing it/breaking it. :mrgreen2:

I like that you looked up 1950s Japanese train cars to get the color scheme right!

Actually, it was laziness - sometimes looking up a color scheme is easier than coming up with one yourself!
