Rin and Nadeshiko from Yuru Camp

#1 Post by Misellus »

Yuru Camp/Laid Back Camp is one of my favorite anime. Easily in my top 5, probably top 3. When I saw a picture of this kit I immediately joined the sculptor's patreon to get the file.

The tablecloth on the rear table took 7 days to paint. Each squiggle line had to be painted and left to dry before I could move on to the next. Nadeshiko's socks were done the same way only more dificult since they had to be mostly straight. As opposed to the hats which were easy. I used a toothpick to paint dots on the hats and all I needed to do was keep them straight.

Rin's coat was painted as purple plaid but once I added the purple tone the colors blended together and no longer looked plaid. I decided to live with it. You can zoom in and see the 3 shades, but it's not easily apparent. My paint style ends up being a bit muddy. I use washes and tones to blend colors together and hide the exact point the colors meet. This is one of those times it didn't turn out as I'd hoped. I cannot paint in the clean lines anime style so I don't even try.

Paints are Vallejo and Army Painter model paints/washes/tones.

Beautiful work all the way round.
Helena is here at hand;
And the youth, mistook by me,
Pleading for a lover's fee.
Shall we their fond pageant see?

Roughly 5.5 to 6" if they were standing. It's supposed to be 1/10 scale but I think it's a little smaller. The camera is not part of the kit, but is part of the source material so I found one on thingiverse and included it. It's a bit large compared to the other parts, but is also meant to be 1/10 scale.

thanks for the kind words everyone

Not familiar with the anime, but the kit looks cool.
Your paint slinging is fantastic. So many great details at such a small scale.
That size sounds a lot closer to 1/12 than 1/10

I agree with the other comment, nice to see some anime on here.
