That's not the droid you're looking for

#1 Post by KathyD »

This was the droid i was looking for actually - BD-72 appeared in "Return of the Mandalorian", an episode of The Book of Boba Fett. First baiting a whomp rat and then assisting the rebuild of a Nabooo starship (cool but hardly a replacement for the Razorcrest imo).

Painted in acrylics, the kit is 3D resin printed - I think its 1/4 scale but I could be wrong on that. Designed and printed to be posable but i fixed leg and "hip" joints as they were not best fitting. I have left the ball joint at the neck posable, I think it gives a bit of character.

I replaced the very fragile resin antennae with brass rod, and as i broke off the even more fragile connecting wires on one leg I had to replace with fuse wire.

Thanks for looking

Cute droid. Like a cross between Johny5 and a walker.
Nice paint.

Beautiful build up Kathy - and nice "recovery" from the broken wires/antennae ... personally those kinds of touches always make me feel like I've "added" something to the piece - well done!! :thumb2: =D> =D> =D>

Sadly he has no arms, he's a reconnaissance /explorer droid. Although you could probably attach a vacuum cleaner or duster, and he can get into small spaces to clean

Cool piece and a great paint job! Been doing a few 3D pieces myself and I feel you frustration regarding the fragile pieces. Sometimes even the pieces that don't appear fragile are when they fall out of your hand; then it's mulliput to the rescue.
