Rondo Hatton 'The Creeper' on the Workbench

I have been able to do some work, albeit not consistently, on Rondo. This has been a major project, but I don't plan on giving up.
Here is a photo update of my most recent progress.



The acrylic modeling paste thinned with some water worked nicely to fill any remaining defects left after I removed the heavy texture from the trousers. The hands still have some final detailing to do.





I have done some refining of the shape of the ears and jawline to more accurately represent what I am seeing in photos of Rondo.


Next up is to try the thinned modeling paste to reduce the heavy skin texture that was sculpted on the face. I probably should have tried that as my first step. Oh well!

Fantastic work on what is clearly a challenging 'old school' kit. Well worth your efforts to bring it to life though, may I suggest Mr Surfacer 500 as a cure for the rough texture on the face.
made by Mr Hobby, you'll need the appropriate Mr Hobby thinner to go with it. It's like painting with a heavy acrylic, a lot of armour modellers use it for creating textures on tank armour. I find it perfect for filling tiny air bubbles and can be built up to soften rough surfaces and cracks very well. Keep at it, he'll look awesome painted up!

This is shaping up really well!

The figure looks great in that creeping pose and the repairs are excellent.

I kinda like the heavy texture on the face, esp. the bare-headed version.

Looking really good! The face texture is a dilemma; I like it as well, but hard to tell if all of it is texture or rather pin holes. Tough choice on how to proceed. (Don'tcha love the old kits?)

I was thinking the same thing. It looks kind of cool, but I don't know how well it would translate with paint.
Though, paint might smooth it out just a bit and make it a bit less pronounced.

Either way, glad to see you still plugging away at this.
Projects like this generally need to be taken in small bites to keep from rushing through it or burning out.
