Of all The P scenes kits I think the Swamp is the most underappreciated of the series. Besides the Cave it has a lot of parts and the details are awesome. But besides the base itself none of the other parts fit the puzzle. So in this thread I want to give credit to the great detail that went into this one. And of course I'm taking it to the next level because it deserves it! 8)

The box art alone is stunning!

Image

And you get all these greatly detailed parts.

Image

And back on topic.. The palm fronds have lower and upper parts. The undersides wont even be noticed. Just showing the details .... :)

Long before I got into spaceships and sci fi, dinosaurs ruled my imagination.
My mom kept all my drawings and all my early pencil sketches were of dinosaurs, usually in a swamp or jungle scene.
Seeing threads like this takes me back to my childhood.
Thank you so much.

Have you thought about making some simple molds so that you can duplicate the tree and make as many as you want?

I have. Ive even delved into doing some research on it. I bought some kits last fall from Mark Kriess and have watched his videos on the Struthiomimus kit that I bought but that was a full kit. He mentioned in his vids how he would use extra resin to make rocks, leaves etc. so the resin wouldn't go to waste. This is something I would be seriously interested in doing but it all seems complicated to me right now. Anyone know some quick tutorial video's on the subject? :?:
It would be very much appreciated. :D

Still fartin around in the slimy mudhole... I love painting these trees! Like I said this addition to the series is unappreciated in my opinion. Didn't even get a nameplate. This build is mostly a complete kit missing only a few tiny pieces that are common on E-bay but they still go for high dollar. I just saw an auction go for like $279.00 or close to that. Had a good box and instructions or something but again that was a pretty high score. But with mine Ive noticed a few things I never really paid attention to before. Most of my old swamp scores had snapped off parts Particularly the tree leaves. For example...
The two trees still had the pins intact but I still had to enlarge the holes to get a good fit. Again the cylcad tree in the middle goes to my Spike base but you can see the leaf parts are broken off where the stump leaves are intact. The Spike tree is going to the side of the bench because I DO plan to attempt making some more. Should be fun. :D

Yeah, lots of small bits to the swamp. And the fit is not the greatest so lots of parts tend to break.

I got two threads open involving the same subject so I'll drop this one here. Been looking for a way to make cheap rocks for my display table. Me and my son went fishing today and I noticed the little pieces of driftwood floating around.....
