I built this Titanic kit over the Summer of 1975 over here. Took me an hour or two every morning up in the attic over two months to finish it. I had brought it unbuilt from the States as I spent my Summers over here in the 1970s. My grandfather displayed it proudly in the day room. Over the decades small pieces have gone missing and sewing-thread-cables have broken (as my mother used to tell me, every time some kid visited the house he/she would want to touch it).
I think its in 1/350 scale, approx. 30.5" or 76cm wide. (Yes, I know the actual Titanic's funnels were painted yellow, not red, but for some reason the 14-year-old me thought red would look cooler - like those on the Queen Mary
None the less, as I now have several big display shelves upstairs, I've decided to display it again. Not worth getting a glass cover (though the thought keeps crossing my mind, just to arrest further deterioration
