Monster Scenes question

#1 Post by WOLFMAN66 »

Does anyone know if Vampirella will get reissued :?:

If I had to guess it would be due to licensing issues. Second guess would be the expense of re-tooling Vampi, as the original was pretty bad.

Give the man a cigar. According to an older thread on Hobby Talk, Harris simply did not want to see the Monster Scenes Vampirella kit reissued.

There is a resin reproduction that's available from CutlTVman.

These were quite plentiful once upon a time, though I got some really good money for the ones I had about 6 years ago.

If you get one with the AUrora dremelled off the bottom of the base, those were sold without a box thru Captain Company out of the back pages of the Warren Monster magazines through the 1970's.

Do we know exactly what came with the original Vampi? Was there a bat?
I know the figure and the base...was there anything else?

The original boxed kit had 2 sets of arms, 2 sets of legs, a simple base that was more of a stand, and the bat that snapped around her wrist.

Frankly I think the sculpture could easily be tooled the same, painted a certain way, and not look like Vampirella much at all. She could be in a body suit with bare arms and called the Go-Go Ghoul, and the buyer could do whatever they want.

Well, my 2 cents. I know people would want it boxed and sold as Vampirella.

Another little known fact was there was a proposal for extra Vampi legs to be sold with the Giant Insect so she could ride it.

Mike are those Vampi legs floating around somewhere or was it one of those ideas that never left the Drawing board at Aurora :?:

i dont know, but i imagine they never got off the drawing board. imagine what she'd look like in that pose without the insect  (unless she was going to ride sidesaddle)
they were having enough p.r. trouble with monster scenes without adding that.
i cant blame harris for wanting to downplay the old vampi kit, because it does little to advance their character due to the sculpt. with the amount of bootleg vampi kits out there, id be surprised if they wouldnt want to license a new version, because they must be aware that theres a market for it (unless the whole bootleg gk thing has soured them on the entire idea of model kits).

So now I need to find the base and the bat...I have the original with 1 set of arms at least!

I have a resin version that I could always use but it is nice to have an original too!

According to Moebius whether the rest of the series is released will depend on sales for the first batch of kits. I'm doing my part to make it happen.
