Well, I finally got a chance to open mine tonight.
I forgot just how big this kit actually is.
15" long X 10" wide X 12" tall.

With that in mind, I am perfectly happy with the $20 shipping.
They packed it well. Wrapped what stuck out with bubble wrap, enough of it to brace the parts against solid pieces of the base. Then wrapped the whole thing in bubble wrap. Then that was nested in a bunch of that packing paper, in the very middle of the box.
Pretty much bullet-proof.

I won one if my all time grails. I remember speaking to John about it. This thing was nearly impossible to find! The Rikk Roberts Cthulhu kit.

I think John would have been happy to pass this kit on to me, being a huge Cthulhu fan like he was.

WOW!

I've gotten notices that I am out bid on everything so far LOL
Must be that Kitator guy knocking my bids down in the dirt.

I showed my wife the pix of John's models and then told her "see I don't have a collecting problem"
She asked if he happened to live in a old church or factory to be able to display all those models.

Rich,I probally bid yours up too inadvertantly. I did bid on about another 100 kits I was interested in ,but had to let them go.Was not gonna just watch these sell for a dollar.I just bid a max bid I could afford as an overall total. There were 10 major ones I was after. Will post a list soon.

I don't want the stuff for free and don't really mind bidding up stuff to a decent price.
None of us would be on this forum period if we didn't have disposable cash.

While I only bid on 3 pieces this time there really is only one I'm after.

Pretty annoyed with shipping, one resin kit broken in half and only received yesterday 18 days from Illinois to NY. Another was mislabeled at the auction site, so it was not what I expected.

Most of the kits were mislabeled. The auction house probally had no way to id any of these since most were already built and no box. I offered one of the family members months ago my help in id'ing and pricing these kits but my help was not taken. If they would have had me give them the info, they would probally have made more money on them. There was only pics to go by in these auctions ,and plenty of unknown kits to most people.

I've been lucky so far.
Zero damage, and super well packed.
I just wish they would have combined the books I won with the kits I won, like I had asked.
Would have saved me about $15 as they mailed the books priority mail for some reason.

As far as labeling, heck I don't even know what some of the kits are that I won.
I think the only way they could have maximized the money on the kits would have been to go through Sassy's.

Sorry to hear that Harry :(

What were the kits? - and can the broken one be fixed easily?

  •
Is anyone else getting "unsubscribed" from this thread?

It's happened at least 3 times to me (including just now) since the thread was originally created - possibly always after Trev posts. HONESTLY - I'm not winding you up!

I noticed this has before on those threads that are pinned to all forums simultaneously.

It's like an "Outer Limits" script revolving around modelling forum Admins . . . :? :)

I know what the cause is now.
Previously I replied to this thread from a 'staff only' forum.
Which must have caused the unsubscription.
When I posted that question last night, I posted from a normal forum.

So that appears to be the issue.
So I will just have to pay more attention to where I am when I post in any global announcements.
I noticed an unbuilt kit AND a buildup as well - I'm not sure if they were the exact same kit though.

Hang on - I'll find the lot #'s . . .

Auction 01 - Lot #39 was the unbuilt one (which I guess is the one you won?) - https://www.proxibid.com/aspr/1989-Swim ... talog=3078

Auction 02 - Lot #369 was the buildup I spotted (pics below) - https://www.proxibid.com/aspr/Custom-pa ... d=36532187

ARE they the same kit?
