Invaluable resource for old concert information.
Thanks. Some 1970's/80's/90's UK gigs are date listed - shame the setlists seem to be mostly empty.

So sorry for your loss Ian.
My condolences to you and your family.
This is a very powerful, and well done song. Both lyrically, and thematically.
Also very entertaining to listen to.

Thanks Mark, Trev, Mark, and Joe for the PM.
Anne's "celebration of life" thingy took place today (Sat 15th Feb, 2:30-5:30pm UK time). We had to be back in Canada this week due to other responsibilities (we had been in the UK for 6 weeks), so missed it, but all the prepwork was done in advance. Anne would have approved of how things went.
She gave STRICT instructions that this was NOT to be a sad event. She wanted balloons, photos, smiles, tea, coffee, happy talk . . .
and rock music !!!!
Anne’s music tastes were varied, but the songs she was exposed to during her teenage years (big Bruv is probably a bit to blame for that) resulted in a lifelong appreciation for rock & heavy metal.
Her first rock gig was in 1986 (Twister Sister - seemed appropriate), and her last was in 2018 (Iron Maiden - also appropriate). Anne had no problem brushing shoulders with predominantly male rock crowds, and even felt comfortable in “pit” areas (no seating and a constantly moving/jumping audience). She also looked back fondly at her attendances at several of the Donington “Monsters of Rock” festivals, standing proud alongside our "gang" in packed crowds of 55-110,000.
Although there are dozens of songs that could have been picked from the years following, we concentrated on the 80’s for her event playlist. She loved the 80's - OTT hair, politically incorrect videos, and a cheerful “hell yeah!” attitude that no decade since has come close to matching.
The playlist showcases some of the songs that Anne treasured over the years . . . mostly “up” music (as she requested), but with a few emotional ones that we couldn’t leave out because of what the bands & songs meant to her.
Here's the YouTube playlist I created for the event -

I'm thinking some of you folks will appreciate them too

Very nice list Ian - I'm sure your Sister was enjoying every one of them from up there! I'm really sorry for your loss and hope you and your family are doing ok. Its tough but sounds like you two shared a huge love of music.

Sounds like I would have gotten along well with your sister. She sounds a lot like my own daughter (who has probably seen more shows that I have by this point)
That playlist is a vary nice mix. (thanks to all the Maiden shows, I would have reflexively put the Python tune at the end, as they always use that for their outro )
Again, so sorry for your loss.
I can't imagine what you are going through.

I just stumbled upon this song today.
Falling In Reverse - "The Drug In Me Is Reimagined"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2cbhYihBWY
OMG!
Completely different than the original version. (I mean, the words are the same, but that's about it)
Even if you don't like this band, or even know this band. Check this video out.
It is epic. Such a showcase of his vocals, and musicianship.
And for those who do not know the original version of this song (from 9 years ago)

Pretty cool - if you didn't listen to the words you would never assume it was the same song!

I know!
Also, I had no idea Ronnie had the chops to do something like this.
Either vocally, or the piano playing.

Thanks Steve, Trev (again) and Pat - much appreciated.
2nd song from that Allen/Olzon album was made available last Tuesday (Feb 18th) -
"Never Die" - and Anne would have loved this too. Just Russell Allen doing the vocals on this one, which makes me think the next track made available will be a solo by Anette.
I know we sometimes stretch things a bit when we think that songtitles
or lyrics are appropriate for us or "our situation" - but SERIOUSLY guys !!!!!!
- So many years have past
But it feels like one long day
Can I stop the time
Please tell me, is there a way?
The world I used to know a thousand tears ago
Is it still alive?
Where will you go
When the world around you changes at the speed of light?
All you’ve ever known, nothing stays the same
A new world is on the rise, but the old will never die.
There is a secret place where I locked away my memories
Hope in vain I say, I’m down praying on my knees
The lives we use to live, the stories we’ve been in
Is it all alive?

The new Ozzy album was officially released today, and this is the best track I've heard from him in
YEARS (decades even).
Catchy . . . great lyrics . . . funny - what's not to like?

Two pretty cool songs......
Here's hoping Ozzy gets past his physical problems and can go out on his terms. Has to be frustrating for an artist to have to postpone what he loves to do because his body isn't up to it. I'm sure he thinks he is letting down his fans but we all know better.

And another reminder of my Sister.
The Scorpions were
by FAR Anne’s favourite EVER band.
That is also true for my Wife & I, and they were the first band our kids ever saw live - in Vancouver, 2007, at the tender ages of 8 and 6 respectively.
The band are still selling out concerts worldwide, and we would have loved to have taken Anne to their most recent UK gig (O2 Arena, June 2018), but unfortunately, it wasn’t to be.
Heavy Metal Spike wrote:.
BW&BK reminded me it's FOUR YEARS today since the most recent studio album by the Scorpions was released (their eighteenth).
They also kindly provided a link to the official video for the first single -
"We Built This House".
Me & mine will never
EVER tire of listening to these guys.
Scorpions RULE -
period.

I gave them all a quick listen.
It all sounds good, just none of it grabs me. Nothing resonates enough to stick in my mind.
I think it may partly be I'm kind of in a nostalgic phase musically right now.
Been listening to a lot of 80's stuff, and early 2000's stuff.
The two big era's for me.
I've rediscovered my unconditional love of Iron Maiden's Brave New World album.
Which turns 20 years old in a couple months. (how the hell did that happen

)
As such, here is a link to my favorite song on the disc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwT9G6t-SKI
Sadly, they have only ever played it on that tour. Never to be heard again

At least I got to see it done live once.

Yeah - probably my fave album by them.
I missed the tour because we emigrated around the time they came to Vancouver (we had landed - just too apathetic given the number of times I'd already seen them and I'd forgotten Bruce had re-joined - BOY was THAT a mistake!)
Just went off and listened to the album version (your link) - STILL a great track.
Also love the version of this on "Rock In Rio" (same tour) -
