Thank you all for the nice comments!
Not sure which crosses I prefer.
Got a few more characters I'm gonna do.
Here is the beginning of one....any guesses to who it is??

Don't know if this pic will be easily recognizable when done, but I think it will look cool, none the less...

Hey Susan, I agree with your comments about the framing of the cross...it does look powerful.....I am not very knowledgeable on horror, but I will guess at Frankenstein.... :)

That's a good guess and I can see why you guessed that!
Hopefully it will be recognizable when I'm done.....I hope..:/

Thank you!
I can see Frank with the heavy eyelids and large brow for sure...but it should be just an effect of the lighting if I can get the drawing right :)
Here is a little more progress on it.

Never thought of that, may give that a try.
Although the grain does give the drawings a certain "look"
Almost done. Any more guesses?

Sometimes I think my drawings take on a Jack Kirby-esque look to them from all the comic books I read as a kid...
All done.
It is supposed to be Dracula..Gary Oldman in Bram Stokers Dracula.
Don't know if I quite got the likeness right. :/

Hey Joe....didn't get that but great job......I guess the only downside to the medium is softness....I get that the textures interplay, but the softer lighting tones would turn it from a great idea into a brilliant finish....if the idea of these interests you enough, I am sure you would explore different paint mediums...as well as being a sculptor, I also paint and draw and I love using watercolour pencils. You can create both harsh and soft areas to please. pastel pencils are also a great medium......regardless of how you carry on, and I do hope you carry on with them, I am so looking forward to seeing Dracula....Mummy....Franky....etc etc... :) :D ....I realise the main reason these are happening is that they are fun. :)

Thanks

Exactly!
I was considering using acrylic paint for the very dark outer areas and looking into other mediums as well, such as oil pencils and charcoal. Hadn't considered water color or pastels, but that is a possibility as well.
This is all new to me, and I consider these practice and for "fun" as you say. I have had multiple request to purchase these and requests for commissions..and I may do a few commissions and sell a few. Unfortunately as I have found out with mask making and bust painting in the past... when it becomes a "Job" I lose interest fast! Lol
Anyway, thank you for your nice comments and suggestions!

I got that vibe too, but he's not exactly horror so he didn't quite fit in context of a cross. :P It is Old Drac from the Coppola version.
