I only managed to get one out of this first batch.
Got outbid on the others.
Though my main interests are in the later batches anyway.
It's one of his build-up that I will proudly display as he left it.

Is anyone else getting "unsubscribed" from this thread?

It's happened at least 3 times to me (including just now) since the thread was originally created - possibly always after Trev posts. HONESTLY - I'm not winding you up!

I noticed this has before on those threads that are pinned to all forums simultaneously.

It's like an "Outer Limits" script revolving around modelling forum Admins . . . :? :)

Did it do it now?

(if not, I may know why it happened before)

I know what the cause is now.
Previously I replied to this thread from a 'staff only' forum.
Which must have caused the unsubscription.
When I posted that question last night, I posted from a normal forum.

So that appears to be the issue.
So I will just have to pay more attention to where I am when I post in any global announcements.

Don't forget.
The next batch of kits are closing tonight.

Probably driving the price up on some of the auctions I will be bidding on, but it's for a good cause.

Don't rely on their shipping calculator - contact them via email and ask for all available options.

They seem to prefer to ship via UPS - but I've arranged to use USPS for shipments to Canada.

How the heck do you even use the calculator?
I looked at it and it wanted all the specs (lenghth, width, height, weight, etc)
I don't have that info.

On the one kit I won so far, the shipping was a tad high, but not bad.
$20 for a built kit in a giant box with plenty of packing.

I got my win from the first auction yesterday. Shipping wasn't too bad IMO. I got the pre-painted Wolverine as a Brood statue w/o box so I was a bit horrified when I found it on my porch yesterday with one corner crushed in considerably. Took a couple pictures just in case and proceeded to open. Like has been said before, well packed inside and heavily wrapped in bubbles so the contents were in perfect shape. Glad to have it from John's collection and have already given it a good home on one of my shelves displayed as I imagine he had.

I scored these two...
Gamera vs Legion Plant resin model kit
https://www.proxibid.com/asp/LotDetail.asp?lid=36532178

Godzilla vs Biollante resin model kit
https://www.proxibid.com/asp/LotDetail.asp?lid=36532176

Kinda nice I got SMASHED in the bidding on the only two kits that interested me in the 1st lot.
And the three I really wanted were pick up only so I couldn't even bid.

Winning these two is great.
1: they are from a well respected member
2: For Kaiju kits they went pretty low on price.
3: they are not so huge to fill a entire shelf ( I like that)

I lost the other kits I was bidding on but I'm really happy to have got these ones.

Rich
I buy and collect Halcyon model kits of all sorts.
Also anything Alien,Aliens related that's not big box store garbage.
Godzilla TOO!

Rich ,you got me on the Biolante vs Godzilla.I bid but was trying to save for some others I wanted more.Spent way more than should already. Glad to get what I was able to.300 plus kits is way too many to auction off all at once.

So far I've been lucky enough to win every auction I bid on - some for surprisingly low prices.

Every one of them will be treasured - by me OR by my Son (we'd hand-picked ones for specific reasons).

I wish some of these were selling for higher prices though :(

It's been fun watching some of the bidding tonight.
Some people just don't get the idea that sniping won't work.
I kept watching some auctions get extended with like 2 seconds left, over and over and over again.
I swear, one of them must have gotten extended about 30 minutes total.

I got outbid on a bunch of stuff tonight, but I did score the 2 auctions I just had to have.
John's Monster Scenes, and Prehistoric Scenes.

I was lucky to pick up John's Kaiyodo Gamera 3 Maquette, and I got some really nice things in the first auction as well. They'll be well loved.

Speaking of... Anyone else disappointed to see a bunch of John's stuff marked up and listed on eBay? It's obviously the buyer's prerogative, but it seems in poor form. Those buyers likely won't know John or what those things meant to him...

No, I haven't seen that. Though I haven't really looked at ebay much lately.
All my funds are being directed towards getting John's stuff, so I haven't even been tempting myself with anything on ebay.

Especially since my real targets are in the batch that closes in 10 days.
I have to get some of John's Maiden kits.
(awe crap! Just noticed the next batch with shirts and such closes tomorrow night too  )

Congrats Larry - and everyone else that now has great ways of remembering our friend :thumb2:

I hadn't noticed the eBay auctions but I'm not surprised.

I'd rather everything had gone for top dollar AND had been kept "in the family" but given the sheer volume of items, the auctions were bound to attract those just in it for a buck instead of emotional attachment. I think it's "poor form" too - leaves a "bad taste". Others here may reason otherwise - and that's OK - we can't all agree on everything.

I just wanted items to go to those who knew John AND for his family to get a decent chunk of change (I'm sure it will add up to a reasonable amount though - hope it wasn't all swallowed up in funeral expenses like with Ray).

We should all list what we've got at the end of this, so we can see which items HAVE gone to those who will cherish them.
