OK, sooo My weekend project one weekend later. This has been an experience. Have you ever been experienced? Well.... I have! So I took all the pieces that I made meself and made this base. Once I got into painting this all of the flaws became apparent. The aforementioned air bubbles but also a real loss of details. But again this has all been fun! I plan to delve further into it. 8) Now, I really gotta clean off the bench! My mom said my 1st sentence was "Made a Mess" .

Great job! Yes, the casts will inevitably lose some detail, and experience will reduce things like bubbles ... but the satisfaction of having done it yourself is always great!! :thumb2: :jam:

Thanx again for the replies guys. Again the whole porpoise :D of this was because I wanted more of this particular cycad tree. It only came with the Spike. I'm happy with it but I wanted to go a step further. Before I started my display table I bought some scale trees and moss for extra stuff. Theses little buggers were perfect.

Forgot to mention. When I casted to Cro-woman base I ended up with air bubbles in the grass. There were little holes in each one and I thought they look like hatched eggs. Bonus!

Also cooked some bugs and finished my dead tree.

Time to get back to my table now. 8)

So again Iv'e been working on my display table. Meaning Iv'e been repairing and touching up these old fossils from 20 years ago. I have several to add but I need to take better pics. But still playing here in the swamp.

Finished the base itself. Then I thought I only had the little critters left then realized there was a 3rd tree left........ getting there no hurry.

Going off track again. Thought I'd try my own advise. I'm out off the 2 part silicone for now but I want to make a mold of the little swamp bush. I squeezed a whole tube of painters silicone into a container and picked some other thingy's from the 'Hell Creek Formation' that I haven't built yet. They wouldn't all fit but this an experiment anyhoos.

So this stuff came out really thick and sets up super fast. I pressed it down with a spoon.

Don't know what 'Ill get but we'll see. :?

Well this didn't turn out very good at all. Gunk never fully cured and stuck to the parts. Gonna be a major bitch to clean the parts off! Bad Idea... :?

Ooof!
Bet it was too thick. Might set up more if you give it more time and come loose easier.

Getting near the finish line. Ive had to resist the urge to add anything to this because its a complete kit minus the 2 common missing parts. The flying reptile head and the little dino arm. I did have to add one thing. The big tree was designed to stand alone but its to top heavy and falls over. I had an x-tra base for the other trees and after a little altering I made it work. For those in the know the tall tree fits into the Sailback base which must have been an after thought as the Sailback was one of the last kits in the series. Anyhoos I took the opportunity to do some repairs on my Allo as well. She suffered some damage to her tail and lost a toe also over the years. :(

Can't wait till this entire bash is finished! When you sit back and look at it you will appreciate how much extra bang for the buck you got from those new castings of additional trees and critters that you made!
