WIP: Casey Love Werewolf bust
So, I finished the David bust from Lost Boys (WIP Thread Here) and I need to take some good pictures (and make an earing). So, I started on the next project, Casey love's Werewolf bust.
I was going to try and finish up the Monster Squad Gillman bust, but I knew that I would not have the time to get it done this past week, so wanted to start something that would be easier to get (mostly) done. Werewolves (for me at least) are easier to make larger progress on in a shorter time then scaley creatures.
Feedback, as always, is welcome. You only get better by pushing yourself and refining what you are working on. Thanks

The base fleshtone laid in with some markers used to do the veining. Based in the mouth, eventhough it will be covered with the dental plates.

Second set shows that the hair base has been laid in and some GK Flesh over the skin. Going with a lighter hair and skintone then most werewolves get.

Next batch of pictures. Got the skin tones locked in better. Used a flesh wash over the deeper areas and splattered some brown wash on the skin randomly to break up the skin. Light work on the hair. Painted in the eyes in my usual manner, using the pearl copper airbrush paint over the black and working the greens up to the pearlized white mixed with the Apple Tart.
Pastel work around the eyes and inside the lids.
Nose got a thin black wash to get the color in.

Next batch of pictures. More work done to the mouth. Some transparent scar red colors were airbrushes into the mouth and scars. A few washes over the hair and drybrushing. Add some highlight greens to the eye and the pupil. Gloss over the eyes was followed by some bloodshot washes and small bloodshot lines.

Really good work Jason. How do you paint the eyes so round?

I use a pencil and draw it in lightly. These were done free hand, but I use other techniques.torpted wrote:Really good work Jason. How do you paint the eyes so round?
If possible I to use a circle sticker (like little happy face ones my daughter has) or the things used to re-enforce looseleaf holes. I also have a template used from art / math class and a safety compass. It changes from kit to kit.
The pupil is done with a nail dotter.
This is the set I have

Re: WIP: Casey Love Werewolf bust
Newsest batch from this past weekend. (hey, if you are up at 4 AM and the wife and daughter are not, why not get some dental plates put in your werewolf!)
So, not a ton of time, so I tried to use it wisely. Got the dental plates (that I have been painting along the way) done to the point where they could be inserted and glued. Obviously had to do touch up and blood effects once they went in. Not 100% done with the mouth yet, but it is getting there.
Thinking i might go over the fur with another wash or two, or maybe mist it with some gold toner. Or maybe both. Not 100% sure just yet, but it will be a few days before I really get to work on him again.
The base needs to be addressed and I was thinking maybe the look of an old stone wall (with some leaves and moss on it) or an old castle wall (with growing moss). Not 100% sure, but want it to look different then the rock bases for my other Casey Love busts (the Martian and the Cyclops)

Thanks....the trick I have found is to use for green eyes is using Pearlized Cooper over the original black. Then I use Pearlized White to lighten the colors for the high lights.
