Headless Hearseman Nosferatu bas relief

#1 Post by bed172 »

Getting going on this bas relief. Had several little bubbles to fill but this is a really nice little sculpture. Enjoying it very much. Head is pretty much done. Painted with oils.

That's nice, you've really caught the silent movie/poster art feel to that, look forward to seeing it finished.

Shading on the head/painting the eyes looks fantastic!

I've finally had some time to work on this. The coat is done except for the cuffs. Still have the hands to go too.

Cool! What color do you plan to paint the border?

I don't know if sculpted it or just paint him, anyway, i tried a few time to do some Bas Relief, and it's really a pain to make and didn't get satisfied of the result. It was just horrible :D
It must be as difficult to paint, so congrats, that's a nice job

The border will just be black. I'll put it in a frame when it's all done. I think flats and reliefs are easier to paint than figures in the round. I know several who disagree with that statement! This is really well sculpted. The areas around the hands are pretty deep and a little hard to get to but all in all a really nice piece.

This bas relief is a thing of beauty. Really nice to see your iteration.

Bob, great work on this guy. Would you mind if I use the finished piece to show it off?
