Painting Skin Tone on Storm Custom X-Men Statue - 3 parts

#1 Post by Vince-Vell »

Hay Guys

Just posted a 3 part video series on painting up a Storm X-Men Custom Statue skin tone. I used garage kit colors for it.

Here is the list of colors

Garage Kit Colors
African Light, Medium Dark Flesh
Transparent Paynes Grey
Transparent Pale Flesh
Transparent Purple

Forumla P3 Flesh wash

Testors Dull cote

I don't have a specific formula of how i paint, its all just blending till i get the look i want. So had a chance to do a real time video on painting skin, so started off with this storm statue. Will post more down the line on skin tones when i can.

been watching a lot of your videos online recently.....thanks for doing these....learn a lot!

You were doing an Emma Frost and painted her eyes first and then masked it off to paint the rest of her face...loved it.

Thanks again!

ya i find that i can airbrush white pink eye balls, then gloss coat, add the eye decals, then seal, mask off and do the rest of the skin tone easier then doing it later. get a smooth eye this way then painting with a brush at the end.

Yeah, after seeing your method of pinning and trying it out for myself, I'll never try it any other way, lol Thanks for taking the time, man! I know it's a lot of work and it's definitely appreciated!

I've seen many of your videos. I know you strip the figures but where do you get them. I just cant see you buying a already done figure just to strip it and sell it. I could be wrong but I have seen some of the figures you do and I have my own ideas of painting I want to do but have not found the figures other than full price on an already painted figure.

I find a lot on ebay and specially from forum members in the statue community. Lots know to ask me if I'm interested in damaged items.

I do sometimes buy a new statue just to redo, same thing as buying a kit just have take the paint off. Plus factory paint ups are so boring and messy that when i do get a statue just for my own collection i just have to repaint it.
