TERMINATOR: GENISYS

#1 Post by Buc Wheat »

did a search but didn't see any thread started on this yet!

Finally got a copy last night and watched it. Jumped the shark
a wee bit, but enjoyed the movie as I watched it. Arnold was the
highlight of the entire film, though!

Only after the movie, when you think about it more... does the plot
start to dissolve. (as does many when dealing w/ time travel plots).

Gave it a 4... but a 1 compared to the others in the series.

Give it a go just for the Arnold bits, though! :)

I wasn't nearly as disappointed with this one as I was with terminator 3. This one had so much potential, but flops after they introduce the time traveling plot to stop skynet. The first half of the movie holds its own though and adds some cool elements to the t-800 and t-1000. The whole movie could have just been based on the first and second act and would have made for a better film. They need to go back to an R rating and make terminators scary again, there needs to be a sense of dread that they can't escape these things.

If you like the franchise and go in knowing it isn't up to par with the first two, it is an enjoyable watch that adds a new spin on everything. It's not great, but it certainly isn't bad and I enjoyed it more than terminator 3.

agree. They kinda went back & forth with the time line thinking.
If you go w/ the 'visit Sarah when she was 9yrs old + Kyle born before
Judgement day' then you wouldn't have the '1984 timeline' nor the
'1997 timeline'... because you created a new timeline where Judgement
day happens in 2017. (Dr. Emmett Brown laws of time travel) :)

But then you wouldn't have all the cool Arnold bits.

Also hated that they made Connor the bad guy at the end. That was
uncalled for. Why couldn't Dr Who have just gone back himself?! He was
physical when he grabs John from behind...and then again, why not just
kill him there and then and be done w/ it all. Since, if I recall, in every
Terminator movie, Skynet still won in the end! Wasn't the goal to stop John?

lol Time travel plots always drive ya crazy!!

But I am just wondering how they will continue. Remember, two more films are planned if this one goes well at the box office, but I wonder again. All those soft done "Adult" movies like TERMINATOR with a PG-13 is unbelievable. The problem is the high production cost and they hope, to have the kids in there for better money, right? Wrong! I for myself do boykott those films in cinema because I AM and Adult and want to see Adult action. It is so simple. When they would do an uncensored or R-Rated Blue Ray version of it, how cool. But seldomly this does not happen  , and all movies showing a bit more blood or brutal action get toned down. Think of the TOTAL RECALL remake, ROBOCOP remake and all that stuff... All failed. And braggings like "We can do a lot of stuff in PG-13!" fail, too! Because the box office went down and they ruin the film or franchise with thoughts like this. Very sad, but the way it goes today.
