Americana/DecoArt (same company) makes a really nice product called Triple-Thick Gloss Glaze that I really like for eyes. Goes on nice and thick, and dries to a great glassy shine. You can do multiple layers as well, to really build up the glassy look as much as you want too. The only real trick is you don't want to work it too much with a brush. Just a get a nice glob on the eye about the size you think you'll need to cover it, and then gently spread it out with as few brush strokes as you can manage.
Should be available at just about any craft store out there, like Michaels. Otherwise you can get it anywhere online.

That's what I use. I like it because you can still go back to fix stuff after you gloss it if something pops out at you.monomaster2 wrote:Tamiya Clear.

I usually use future. I've never tried the tamiya clear. I'll have to check that out.

You can add me to the growing list of Tamiya Clear fans.
I've always used it for eyes, gums, fingernails, lips, etc.
And I've never gotten a visible brush stroke.

Re: Best gloss for eyes.
Two part epoxy with a tiny bit of purple to keep it from yellowing ala Rafael Robledo...
Re: Best gloss for eyes.
Is there any trick with using epoxy to keep air bubbles out? I've tried it before, but no matter how gently and slowly I stirred it, I would get air bubbles in the mix which are super visible on the finished piece.

For the eyes, once I have it mixed, I ever so slightly touch the epoxy with a paintbrush and then paint it on the eyes. The layer is so thin that there is no bubbles.Kitzilla wrote:Is there any trick with using epoxy to keep air bubbles out? for thicker epoxy, I sort of fold it together like in cooking vs. actually stirring. On the model you could go after the bubbles with a pin. But since it goes on very thinly I've never had that problem. HTH

Devcon 5 minute epoxy. I am told it doesn't yellow and I have never had an air bubble problem either. It goes on in just a thin layer.

Tamiya Clear, let it set for 24 hours.. Then a touch of Future Floor Wax adds the finally gloss touch that I like...

I use a nail varnish gloss top coat that I robbed off my daughter
....the light that shines twice as bright burns half as long.

Egg whites, gently beaten with a touch of sugar. Then a layer of Future.

I used to use Testors Gloss Coat until my bottle dried up, then I switched to Future and have been very happy with it; plus, you can use Windex to remove any boo-boo's (contains a bit of ammonia that dissolves the Future).
