Kit bash vermithrax dragon bust - done

#1 Post by barad_dur »

I started painting the dragon. Long way to go yet. Some updated pics posted.

I have added some progress updates at the bottom of the page. Extended the horns (again).

Modifying Bill Weiger Vermithrax dragon bust.
Extended snout, jaw, and horns.

Original kit (hope it is ok to use this pic off the web)

Excellent Job you deserve a gold star.. :D
The problem with Dragonslayer dragon
is they used several different models the go motion looks different
from flying one and life size one looks different as well.. and others used.
I have the Cinefex magazine 2 which goes in depth about Dragonslayer.
Not discount Bill Weiger , but this much better rendition..
Like Pegasus one.. there are flaws with it mainly the feet are too small ..
and snout is too short it's too small to mess with..

I certainly concur. Bill did an excellent job on the original but this "kitbash" is really outstanding. I have always wanted one of the larger verminthrax sculpts. Well done.

thanks!

I need to get back to working this bash.

I plan to change the entire head position and thin down the bottom of the neck which will both be a lot of work; and also extend the horns even more than I already have and change the angle of them.

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone!

I would appreciate some thoughts on the tongue position.
Should I leave it as is or drop it closer to the bottom of the lower jaw?

Bill's sculpt look to me that is based in the stop motion puppet, while yours is on the full size prop, is this right?

My modifications are based only on my imagination. I did not use any specific references.

Updated progress. I had extended the horns before but decided to extend them more.

OMG. Extending the horns really changed the overall look and the paint scheme. Fantastic. Would it be asking too much if you would not mind casting this magnificent piece? I would gladly give up my sword, shield and horse to get one!
