Got from a neighbour who was having a garden clear out. Came to me as a pair of seriously weather-beaten and more than a bit dented garden ornaments moulded in fibreglass and not terribly well laminated up in places.
So the upshot being that Stan was missing a couple of digits, both had splits/cracks/chunks knocked out of 'em so repair/re-glass on the inside, mucho surface work, fill with foam, paint and done...or done to the best on my ability in about a week flat.
Here's what I had to begin with:

Not small by any means, I'd tag 'em and about 1/3rd scale.

As far as the damage is concerned, there was plenty and also when they were first moulded, the glassing hadn't quite got pushed all the way to the gel coat in places so many a hole where the gel coat had taken a knock or several over the years. Here's a few pics of some of it as examples.

Ok, a bit of reworking since Ollie's neck was a serious weak spot and took the opportunity to redo the hat slightly. Ollie rarely had the hat on straight so gave it a slight tilt and added the trademark hair down the forehead with Aves.
As it was...

How it ended up...

So a full repaint to the best of my ability and built a crate for them to sit on. Just 1/2" X 1 & 1/4" strip softwood nailed together with oversize heads and epoxy backed to make sure it all held together. A card stencil cut and sprayed with matt black completed the deal.
Only a few pictures as there wasn't enough time to get a proper gallery shoot done, maybe another day but for now, the done deal!
And a last one in B/W for the hell of it.
He is well happy with them and was happy to get 'em sorted for him so high fives all round!
As far as 1930's to 40's slapstick movies are concerned and IMHO, Laurel and Hardy were and are often imitated, seldom equalled, never bettered.
Take care and a happy new year to all when it get's here!
