Black Heart Mummy - 360 series

#1 Post by derekc62 »

I picked up this 1:1 scale resin bust a few years ago and finally got around to painting it this week.

The main bust (head and shoulders) took about three days - the cartouche with Imhotep's name in hieroglyphics took about as long!

The bust was done almost exclusively in washes. Dry brushing was used for the highlights of the most pronounced wrinkles.

The cartouche was done by hand.

Produced by Black Heart Enterprises and sculpted by Dan Thompson here's The Mummy.

Genius coloration! He really does look like a desiccated corpse. He's just about to open his eyes and "go for a little walk."

Thanks guys!
Hard to believe but I used 16 different colors on this one.
Up close the changes are really subtle.
One of my favourite projects this year.

I am severely creeped out. He looks like he's about to open his eyes.

Thanks Tim, Tim, Scott and Vger.
The bust literally overlooks my computer so even as I write this I get to look ol' Imhotep in face :D
As I said previously, it's one of my favourite projects of 2020.
I enjoyed using washes for effect more that I thought I would.
