Wonderfest 2022 photo's and stuffs

#1 Post by Heavy Metal Spike »

Right off the bat - HUGE shout-out in advance to Buc for doing his usual glorious job of collecting details . . . I'm not sure there is anyone else better qualified or patient enough to do this.

Here's a link to his "Model Shows" page  http://www.bucwheat.com/shows.htm#show

Scroll down a tiny bit to see the Wonderfest 2022 links.

There is only 1 link right now (to Jens Porner's Facebook page - no Facebook membership necessary to view), but I know others will get added as they become available.

Oooops - yeah - what Buc said

To compensate, I'd also like to thank all the folks that attended, the vendors, those that brought contest entries & displays, the hotel, the hotel staff, the local eating establishments and bars, my agent, my long-suffering family, my fluffy unicorn (Marmaduke), my accountant, and Pamela Anderson.

Some amazing stuff shared in those photos (and I don't just mean the Pamela Anderson ones!)

As regards updates on Buc's site . . . although "J.R. Aiello* pt 1" is MIA and "Danno C.*" is "not available", we so far have:

I couldn't find any good footage of the dealers rooms one guy tired but his signal for the phone was cutting out.
I thought model club was going to stream the whole show.
Except Jason, falling asleep in a bath tub.

I saw some neat stuff in those pictures. Any idea who made that massive Dracula Van Helsing Display? Also, has the Palance Dracula bust been seen around these parts? I really wish the list of kits released by year was still a thing over at Bucwheat's site. It's how I stayed up on things, lol.

100% agree - but it was always a lot of work for Buc, and with Farcebook fragmenting things even further it must have been getting darn near impossible to keep on top of.

Well - either that, or Buc's become a bit of a wimp as he got older Image

Thanks very much to Buc Wheat & all the others for providing the photos!

Does anyone have any information as to who makes the Pirate Girl kit seen in the contest?

Unless I'm mistaken, the Pirate Girl is called Belladonna, and she's one of "Filmy's Girls" produced by Marc Havican at Space City Models.

My only wish for the FB posters, is to put them into an album so you can just link that.
When you just post photos to a wall, you never know if that link will be there long or just
disappear over a period of time. Why I couldn't find a pt 1 for J.R.

That pirate kit is Filmy's. Deadman, sorry to hear Rona visited instead!

Yeah - he's never gotten over that - his lack of forgiveness may partly explain why I'm not a fan of his "Daily Show".

Now where did I put those Leprechaun eggs? :-k . . .

It will be the weekend at the earliest until I get most of my pics done.
As for video I know Resin Maniacs were doing stuff, so that will probably be released fairly soon.

I can also give some general show information. Most of the dealers were very happy. There was a large crowd there on Saturday, and they were spending money.
Many of us buyers were happy to see quite a bit of older kits scattered about. And as they sold, even more were seeing the light of day. Though a few of the sellers must have though the kits were cast out of precious metals from some of the prices they were asking. Those pretty much sat there all weekend.
The contest had 844 entries this year. And it was a strong showing. Lots of high quality work.
As far as I am concerned this was the best entry of the entire show. And I got many photos of it.
It ran the length of an entire table in the scratchbuild/original sculpt category.

Image

The room was notably light on judges displays this year though. Which was kind of sad.
Also, a lot of familiar faces were not seen this year.
But on the flip side, I saw some people I haven't seen there in years.
