Expendables 4

#1 Post by tay666 »

Looks like they are doing it again.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMvX4M_3nNU

I've heard rumors for a while, and seen news about things happening, but now that there is a trailer and a release date I will start getting my hopes up.

I hope they can recapture the magic of the first 2 and not replicate the 3rd one.

Love almost every movie Jason Statham has been in, but REALLY have trouble putting up with Megan Fox - there's just something about the poor girl that irritates the hell out of me.

Totally not a "theatre" watch (but then nothing has been for a long while now), and not even sure if I'll want to stream this :-k . . . let's see how bored I am when it comes available :)

You'll just watch the first predator again instead..
Nostalgia can be a bad thing, especially when you are led by it.

I was thinking about this movie I can foresee the whole plot in my head..

For what it's worth, Scuzz, I could have predicted your outlook about it just as easily as I can guess what will happen in the film.

I loved the first two Expendables, enjoyed Wesley Snipes in the third. I'd be happy seeing them continue indefinitely. It was never intended to be art, just fun, and neat seeing some action-movie has-beens get another chance in the spotlight. This one will reportedly be Stallone's last and his role is reduced.

Like the others, I'll probably see this one when I can check it out from my library.

Agree with all, except I plan on seeing it in the theater when it comes out.
I want the full experience.
(that is, if I hear good things from those who see it before me)

I'll hand it to Megan Fox on one account: Girl had her tattoos REMOVED. She's got balls - she said it was VERY PAINFUL. 😬

Been meaning to post in here.
I finally got to watch this the weekend before last.
I enjoyed it.
It wasn't amazing, but it was entertaining and not as cringe as the 3rd movie.

Also Fox wasn't annoying at all. She wasn't a stand-out, but she also wasn't a detraction. A bit too one-dimensional, but I think that was more about the script than her acting.

Agreed.

We watched it last weekend. It was an 'OK" popcorn movie. You get what you expect out of something with "The Expendables" in the title (although that said, the first one was sheer fun start to finish...)

It was a toss-up between #4 and The Beekeeper. Might watch The Beekeeper this weekend.

The first two are great movies. A rare time where the sequel equals the original for different reasons.

Well . . I made it ALMOST half way (46 mins in, 57 remained) based on Trev's feedback. I should have stopped WAY earlier, but kept telling myself it HAD to improve (it didn't). I won't be watching the rest

As a result, Trev will be receiving a lifetime audio subscription to "Disco fans anonymous" at some point down the line.

This should feature in classes teaching bad dialogue, god-awful casting and truly embarrassing acting. I would have commented on the "plot" but can't quite find the right words.

PS: Megan Fox WAS still annoying as hell!

I liked the idea of the first one but felt they skimped on story.
The island dictator guy was bland--they missed an opportunity to improve the ending by having Eric Roberts get away and kidnap the girlfriend of what's his name and then have Mickey Rourke throw a knife to save the day.
It didn't have the over the top qualities of a Commando (i.e. "They make me laugh. If Matrix was here he'd laugh too."). Too safe.

As for Megan Fox--I only know her from the horrible Transformers films. It is a funny thing about acting--you can have someone really unattractive who is fascinating to watch--and you can have someone who is beautiful but as boring as a fence post with a black wig on it when they try to speak.
