What did you buy at the show?

#1 Post by tay666 »

Here is what I scored. There was more I thought about, but ended up not getting them.
I was really gonna get one kit but by the time I got back in the dealers room, that seller had already packed everything up :(

Image

The Heavy Metal crew from Bombshell Minis. More kaiju busts from Black Heart. Kolchack from Nostalgic Resin. Not shown was the ModelClubTV kit from Jason.

Image

Finally got the Elric kit from Resin Dust. It was his last one, I bought his display.

Image

I got one of my favorite kits that Rick Evans painted.

Yeah, I always liked the way Rick painted that PL Rex like Devil Dinosaur.
Here is the thread for it from back in 2014 viewtopic.php?t=107454

That Elric kit has been on my radar for 2 years now. First saw it in 2022. Didn't stumble across it until Sunday afternoon and it was sold out. Last year he had kits, but I was short on funds at that point. This year, I didn't see it in the room until Sunday again, but this time I got it. It's going right on the bench.

I picked up a very large size cyclops, a small dragon head, and the mermaid skeleton.

Which cyclops?
Was it one of Black Heart's dragon heads?

I found an Aurora Babe Ruth, so that was my highlight. I also found Victoria's Secret (Victoria is a vampire, her "secret" is the man/corpse hanging upside down, bloodied, next to her), and bought Nostalgic's Buffalo Girls, quite charming, and a cute little female Creature ("Gilly")

Here are pics of the cyclops, dragon head and skeleton kit that I bought this year.
The cyclops stands about 25 inches tall when built up.

That's a MASSIVE Cyclops (the "twisting" Cyclops if I am not mistaken) ... biggest one I have (unbuilt) is 16" and that one is huge! :shocked2:

Any plans on "grafting" the dragon head onto another bash?

I will definitely use the dragon head for a bash, but not sure which one yet.
I am burnt out from getting ready for wonderfest and am taking a break for a while before getting back to bashing.

I got several busts (McDevitt Rhino and Hulk, plus a demon head), a few of the 3d printed comic style villains (Jack Torrance, Freddy Kruger, Terminator), a couple old Horizon kits I painted a ton of in the 90s for other people buy never had one for myself (Cable, Carnage), the Olivia Newton John figure, and a Godzilla plate from Dave. I also bought some Atom Smartpaints since I'd just watched a video last week on how good they were, but I didn't want to pay for shipping. Luckily someone brought them to the show. I used one of the colors last night and they do cover quite well.

I almost bought the Heavy Metal crew and the Elric. I also liked the Broodverine from Resin Dust but there's no way I'm paying $400 for it.

Nice haul - for figure painters that Olivia Newton-John kit is pretty stunning - and he was basically "giving it away". What a cute "loss leader"!!! :rolf:

Yeah, it looked fantastic, but that pricetag

I almost got a Kaiyodo Battra. but when I went back to the dealers room after picking up my contest entries, the dealer was already closed up. :(

I took home the 1/72 MPC Millennium Falcon that was part of the Friday workshop to weather it. I bought a Bandai 1/72 X-Wing with the Luke and R2D2 option to go with the Falcon. From Rise 3D Builds, I pre-ordered their 1/6 kit of Jay Silverheels as Tonto. He's on his way here and then I'll start building the two of them. Might have it done for the 2026 contest.
