A GUIDE TO EDITING & POSTING IMAGES [DRAFT]

Copy this text into a text editor and print to get a hard copy.

EDITING POSTS

EDITING AN EXISTING POST
1. Open the post you want to edit.
2. Click the Edit button (pencil icon).
3. Choose "Edit Post" or "Full Editor".
4. Make your changes.
5. Click Submit.

ADDING IMAGES VIA ATTACHMENTS
1. Open Quick Reply or Full Editor.
2. Scroll to the "Attachments" tab.
3. Click "Add files".
4. Select and upload your image.
5. Insert it as a thumbnail or full-size image.

REPLACING AN IMAGE
1. Edit the post.
2. Delete the old file or link.
3. Upload the new image (preferably with a new filename).
4. Insert it again.

IF THE SYSTEM REFUSES TO RECOGNISE A NEW IMAGE VERSION
If you post an image, realise it's not quite right and then upload it again the system it may continue to display the old version. The solution is to ensure the system cache is cleared. To do this leave this file for a moment and upload a different file elsewhere to your collection. Now go back and reload the file that wouldn't update. Bingo. This forces the system to clear the cache. I have found sometimes nothing else works.

REORDERING IMAGES
- Cut and paste the attachment tags:

USING EXTERNAL HOSTS
- Insert external images using:

COMMON ISSUES
- Resize large images to 1500–2000px.
- Use Ctrl+F5 if the browser shows old thumbnails.
- If you cannot edit, the forum section may restrict editing.


WORKING WITH IMAGES ON A DESKTOP/LAPTOP

POSTING A THUMBNAIL
1. Open Quick Reply or Post Reply.
2. Click "Add image to post".
3. A Postimage window opens.
4. Ensure "Do not resize" is selected.
5. Upload your image using "Choose images".
6. Copy the "Thumbnail for forums" link.
7. Paste it into your post.
8. Preview and submit.

POSTING A FULL-SIZE IMAGE
1. Click "Add image to post".
2. Ensure "Do not resize" is selected.
3. Upload your image.
4. Copy the "Hotlink for forums" link.
5. Paste the link into your post.
6. Use Full Editor & Preview.
7. Submit.

DESKTOP NOTES
- Drag-and-drop upload works in many browsers.
- JPG is preferred for photos; PNG for UI, graphics, or diagrams.
- Using "Add image to post" keeps images stable long-term.


WORKING WITH IMAGES ON A SMARTPHONE

POSTING A THUMBNAIL
1. Open Quick Reply.
2. Tap "Add image to post".
3. Tap "Choose images".
4. Select a photo from your gallery.
5. After upload, copy the "Thumbnail for forums" link.
6. Return to Quick Reply.
7. Long-press → Paste the link.
8. Submit or use Full Editor & Preview.

POSTING A FULL-SIZE IMAGE
1. Tap "Add image to post".
2. Tap "Post image" (top-left) to open full upload mode.
3. Tap "Choose images".
4. Select "Photos and videos" and choose your image.
5. After upload, scroll to the link list.
6. Copy "Hotlink for forums".
7. Return to Quick Reply.
8. Long-press → Paste the link.
9. Preview, adjust placement, then submit.

1. Edit the post.
2. Remove the old link or attachment.
3. Upload the new image (preferably with a new filename).
4. Insert the new link.
5. Preview and submit.
