The subject line states my question. A very small company, Nightmare Press, has published my novel, titled Belinda's Keyboards, Part One: Ded's Line. It is available for Kindle or in paperback.
As the Amazon blurb states, Belinda's Keyboards is about a journalist in his fifties rediscovering how to do his job responsibly in an era that appreciates bias over truth and influencers over experts. While investigating the death of an old friend’s son, Ded discovers Belinda Blessing, who enjoys injecting discord and chaos into the culture wherever she can.
I wrote this under the name Dedham Pond, which is also the name I originally used for my GK production company. The name comes from the 1981 movie Ghost Story. When I launched Dedham Pond Designs back in 2010 or so, my first production was a bust of Alma from the movie, sculpted by William Paquet.
Truth is, I'm not the best publicist in the world, particularly not when it comes to promoting my own work. I'm trying to get better at that.
One major thing I could use is some reviews on Amazon and/or Goodreads. Honest ones, I'm not asking for people to gush about a book they've never read. And I also wouldn't ask anyone to be overly positive about something they disliked.
So I'm wondering whether I can interest any of you folks in reading it. I don't mean please buy my book, I'm saying that if you will read and review it on Amazon and/or Goodreads, I'll send you a formatted PDF copy for free so long as you agree to keep it to yourself.
Interested? Please message me here, or email info@dedhampond.com. Include your email address and I'll send you that PDF right away.
First, you might want to consider the following. Some content advisory and a couple of, heaven help me, "trigger warnings."
Warnings first. There is some foul language in my novel, and some violence, including violence to pets. I hope no one would see it as gratuitous.
The cover suggests that this is a horror novel, but I'd say it's really not. I label it more as a social thriller.
You will find political references in this novel, but I hope no one could fairly say that I'm blatantly pro this or anti that political party. The main thrust of my criticism is at what has become of professional journalism. I was a journalist myself for 20 years but today I'm almost embarrassed to admit that.
I think that's saying enough. Again, if you'd be interested in reading my novel and putting an honest review online, on Amazon and/or Goodreads, please get in touch.
Thanks.
