I gotta say it was better than last year!
Last year I left feeling kind of weird because most of the booths seemed to have the same thing. Stacks of styrene! It was like an IPMS show. Sure there was resin, but it just seemed like there was less new stuff, and more of the same 2 dozen kits at every booth.
This year it was back to normal. Lots of resin, lots of new stuff, sure there was styrene, but it wasn't everywhere.
My first impression was that it was less, but it was just that a lot of vendors didn't have the tall walls behind them like in previous years. So when you walked in, you could see the back corners of the hall. which also meant you could see all the people. So it was easy to see how many customers were milling about. But as I went around I could tell there were plenty of people buying.
I noticed more cartoon kits this year. I talked to a guy selling a Garfield, and he said last year he didn't sell hardly any, but this year he had almost sold out by 2 on Saturday! You just never know what will sell from year to year....
I saw loads of new things I needed and my favorite was the "don't be afraid of the dark" kit. Loved it.
I was very surprised to see a maker-bot churning away at one booth making creature from the black lagoon heads. 3-D printing is here and it's at wonderfest folks, deal with it. LOL!
All in all a good feeling was had about the next year in kits and I can't wait to get my hands on some of the stuff I saw!
