Thanks Denis Lange for background graphic for the Babe Ruth

#1 Post by Stoney »

I need some help with my Aurora Babe Ruth kit. The kit that I was able to acquire has everything still in the bag, plus the base, box and instructions. However it is missing the printed cardboard background of the fans at Yankee Stadium. Does anyone have one that they could scan in, at hi res, and e-mail a copy to me? I would really appreciate it. I was able to find a photo online of one with the background that I need below:

That's a great kit Bruce, where did you find it?

I have the Jack Dempsey vs Luis Firpo kit still in shrink wrap. :D

I'll build it one of these days.

I was able to find it on e-Bay. Just unfortunate that the background was missing. Everything else is there. I did see one that was still shrink wrapped but the seller wanted $700.00 for it. That's a bit too much for me.

If I can't come up with the background image I am thinking of using something like these instead.

I photoshopped the great Bambino and the catcher out of these backgrounds, you can use something like this maybe.

I actually like all of the alternative ideas better than the original cartoonish fans in the pic that came with the original kit. That said I know a lot of people are sticklers for having everything original so I guess it depends on your preference.

Denis Lange was kind enough to scan it in at hi res for me. If anyone needs a copy just pm me, or you can get it here on photobucket.

I needed the background picture myself, so I have downloaded it to my computer. Since (as usual) this is one of the very large number of kits I have not yet built, I have a question.

What size is the picture supposed to be, so that I can print it out as a correctly sized backdrop for my Babe Ruth kit?

I can hunt for my own kit and just scale it to the length of the base, but my wife has rearranged things a bit too much and it's a bit awkward to get to where I think it's stored.

Also, my Babe Ruth kit is missing the entire catcher figure and whatever parts go with him. I've looked and asked around in the past but never could find these parts. Can anyone help me out with finding them so I can buy this guy and complete my kit?

Thanks for any help you guys can provide!

Since I don't have an original card, I can not say. I plan to just measure the side of the base and scale it to match.
