Post your X-O FActo kits

#1 Post by TeddyNovak »

Someone suggested earlier that we should post our XO Facto kits due to John passing. I think I only have 3 and I don't paint so to give credit Bogey and 007 were painted by J Johnston and Slutty Scully was painted by Saul

I bought a ton of kaiju kits from John back in the day, but here are his XO kits that I built.

Delighted he reissued this:

Slightly bashed because I didn't want to explain Peter Lorre's severed head to my daughter:

The Talos kit I always wanted:

I always wish John would do more Doctor Who kits, but the one he did do was killer:

Sadly, I only own 2 of the kits produced by John.
Both are still in progress.

I can't see the pics. Do you have to register separately for the model museum? It says it doesn't recognize my username and password?

Photobucket? After what they did to the Internet? Really? :(

*Anyway*

"Slutty Scully"... :rolf: I thought it was called "Actress X"

A story - I remember a thread back from 2007-08 where John discussed this kit ... he mentioned that he had seen a photo somewhere of Gillian Anderson's bedroom ... with this built-up kit on the bedstand next to it! He got a chuckle out of it.

I must now find time to finish the one kit I got from John ... and, at about 22" tall, its a real doozy ....

I have two of John's kits, a Frankie from "Sky Captain" and Yvonne Craig's Orion slave girl from the 3rd season of Star Trek -

Having learned how to paint black makes Frankie imminently buildable now, and having seen the Trek episode recently has got me fired up to do a tribute to Tucky's memory.

I still can't believe he's gone...

Hey Tim,
Last night I was trying to figure out just how many XO Facto kits I have, over the years I collected a lot of them, last night I counted twentyfive so far and I don't know how many more I have in storage. My wife and I were good friends with John and we bought a lot of kits from him.
I'm still trying to find XO Facto's 1/6 scale "Drowning Creature Walks Among Us" kit and I'm willing to pay a pretty fair price for it.
Anyhow this spring my wife and I plan to put a new studio and storage building next to our home to house and display all the kits, I haven't built as many as I would like to up till now due to lack of room.
It seems funny though I'm about to turn 60 years old and realize how many kits I have that will never live long enough to see built, it makes me a bit sad.
I just retired recently which will allow me more time to work on them.

You've got lots of time now! I just retired at 60 as well. What a great feeling.

I loved John's kits when he had the XO-Facto website. I lusted after all of them, but I had two little kids at the time and no money. Now that the kids are grown and I have the money, the kits (and John) are no more....

But if you ever want to sell any of the classic horror figures (1920s and 1930s), I'm up for it.

.

I bought 8 kits direct from John between January & July 2006 - 2 SuperEdge Predators and 6 Narin Predators - but these were intermediary sales rather than John's own kits.

John produced his OWN kits based on his interests as well as those that would sell well.

As such, most of his PRODUCED releases were not in the genres that I was interested in - so the only TWO I own (bought off eBay) are:
  • • A still unbuilt "Splish-Splash", sculpted by Joe Laudati, bought for me by my dear departed friend Corey in 2007.

    • The aforementioned "Actress X", sculpted by Joy & Tom Studios, my buildup (and the photo) by our own Peter Leontescu (RCreations), bought 2013.
        • Image
