"Pan Pastels"?

#1 Post by lsamuels »

In the recent AFM (#70), I noticed some mention of "Pan Pastels" - p 29 has a picture of some of them (figure 19), and their use is discussed in the "CARDIOVASCULAR REVITALIZER " build, pg 59.

When I first saw the picture on page 29, I thought it was pancake makeup, and was wondering if someone was using makeup items, but they seem to be just a nicely-packaged pastel that you don't have to grind up? The picture also seems to show a nice plastic holder for the various pastel containers - this might be useful, or (if it was me), I might end up mixing one color into another by slopping over the edges... -)

Does anyone use these, or have some experience with them? Thanks for any info!

Larry,

I use them frequently.

And yes, they come as powdered pigment so you do not have to grind any chalk pastel sticks.

I featured some in a Work In Progress that I posted earlier this year:

Love Pan Pastels! They are one of my go-tos for shading.

Thanks for the info/feedback, and thanks, mods, for moving this topic. I was sure I entered it in "The Workbench". -)

They are the best! Many different shades and stay on VERY well. Highly recommend.
