*FLASH* - A PORTAL FROM *SOMEWHERE* HAS OPENED UP INTO THE CLUBHOUSE THIS WEEK!!!

INTO THREE THREADS IN PARTICULAR:

TREKKRIFFIC'S "VOYAGER" THREAD - HAS GONE FROM AROUND 50K TO 200K VIEWS IN A WEEK!!!

BARAD_DUR'S "MEDUSA SHARK HUNTER" - HAS GONE FROM 35K TO 150K VIEWS IN THE SAME WEEK!!! AND ... LAST BUT NOT LEAST ...

MY OWN "KONG UP TOP 3.0" THREAD - HAS SURGED FROM 17K TO 100K VIEWS IN THE SAME WEEK!!!

Ok, I'll take the caps off ... so what's going on here exactly? Did a couple of links we placed on FB groups to our "In Progress Build" threads create this deluge? Maybe. But there is a lesson here for all who despaired about the future of The Clubhouse.

What this unexpected series of events has shown is that if CH members post interesting "how to" builds of popular subjects, "THEY WILL COME". Unexpected? Yes. But it gives us a clear view of "The Way Forward" in terms of making the CH a "hot internet property" once again.

Maybe not in terms of a massive jump in member engagement - but certainly YES in terms of making us a place where hobby modelers come "to see how its done" and learn new techniques. This is the stuff they CANNOT get on FB or Instagram, because their "Click-Crack-Addicting" operating systems do not really allow for it.

This - is the path forward for us in The CH. We just have to keep taking it, and amplify it. Yes, we seem to have stumbled on this "recipe" by accident, but now we know that well-placed links on other platforms can bring them HERE.

I had replied to a PM from Joe before I had realised (via Vlad's post above) just how MUCH those numbers had gone up - I had just assumed it was due to the folks that are stalwart sharers of their WIP builds combined with Clubhouse regulars viewing in tandem.

But given the numbers Vlad posted - there's no way just US would account for that.

So - I genuinely have no idea what's caused it - as I wouldn't have thought even traffic from social media sites could raise those numbers in a week!

Perhaps bots are part of it?

Maybe Trev can provide some insight tomorrow.

I think the links to our "in-progress" builds that Joe, Trek. & I posted to FB groups have been the culprit. It can't be just 'bots' because the insane increase is to those three threads of ours only - with, of course, some 'spill-over' effect as people come here and then start looking around.

I would encourage all of y'all to consider posting links to some of your 'in-progress' threads on whatever 'social media' you have accounts on. And, by all means, do 'show us your work', as Trek., Joe and I like to do ....

Something’s definitely going on in The Clubhouse. The other three forums I’ve shared my Voyager build on have gotten less than 20K views COMBINED! Here views have ballooned to over 1300% of that number. I think I’m feeling verklempt… and I’m not even Jewish.
By the way, I don’t post anything on social media either. Hmmmm… I wonder if the fact I’ve been mixing VIDEOS into my posts has made an impact - especially for the younger viewers with short attention spans.

Joe and I posted links of our two recent builds to some FB groups (Figure Kits Page in my case) and suddenly, overnight, the CH viewership exploded. I guess we hit a nerve and the views "went viral". People undoubtedly sent the links to friends, or in other groups, and it caught fire. As I said earlier, the increase in views on other threads is simply a side-effect of people coming here for the first time for our threads, and then starting to "look around". Kind of a version of the old "A rising tide lifts all boats" saying ...

Joe - I saw you started to post your builds to the Resin Maniacs FB page. Suggest you post a link in each post there to the "build threads" on the CH, as I did with "Kong". That's the only way to let the FB people know that "we are here". (Don't go wobbly on us now )

That may well be what is going on - and your spaceship build subject matter has a vastly larger audience than monster/figure kits do, so I would not be surprised if the IPMS-types are flocking to it!

Here's some grist for the mill. My "2023 Buildups" page currently has 3000ish hits, which I don't believe especially as "Forbidden Plastic" is not available unless you're a member. I sat as the only visitor on the "Forbidden Plastic" forum page and refreshed the page a couple of times and the visits ticker went up by 10 and yet there was no one there. Wait a couple of minutes and it adds 30. Something's going on but it's not caused by human visits.
