Proteus by Moebius Models - Finished

#1 Post by Trekkriffic »

After 9 months, or so, I am calling this marathon build of the iconic submarine from the classic 1966 movie, Fantastic Voyage, completed.
Thank you to everyone here on the Clubhouse forum for your support. =D>
You bolstered my spirits and made this build more enjoyable thru your comments in my build thread which can be viewed here:

viewtopic.php?t=126264

Anyway, here are some finished images for your inspection.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them.
I will post more as soon as I can upload them to my album on Flickr!.
Thanks for looking…

Stay tuned and remember, as Fantastic Voyage proved, shrinkage is not always a bad thing, this guy’s experience notwithstanding…

More pics... some may look a lot like ones I've already posted but there are subtle differences, especially with the lighting...

You can see the centrifuge to the right of the sink in the lab:

That's probably enough for now. I'll post a few more later. :rollin:

An amazing project to watch, unbelievable detail at such a small scale, well done! 👀

Quick technical question, what software did you use to create those composite pictures into one seamless product at the end? 🤔

You truly hit this one out of the park! The human beings inside the vehicle, and all of their details, gives this a more personal feel than some of the larger spaceship subjects. 👍⚡🪄🎉🥳✨🎊🎇💥🔥

l’m embarrassed to admit i use MS Paint and MS Paint 3D. i open two tabs on my laptop. In Paint i open the background and in 3D i open the shot of the subject using the Magic Wand tool to select it. Then I copy and paste the subject from the 3D tab into the background in the Paint tab. Then I save it as a jpeg in the albums on my laptop. i know there are better ways to do this but I started using Paint decades ago and it’s what I’m comfortable with. The Magic Wand tool in 3D really is handy once you get the hang of it and has made this process much easier.

Having trouble deciding weather your build ups or the subsequent photo montages are the more impressive part of your work! 👀👍🔥💥⚡🎇🎊🥳✨🎉🪄
