Chiller model contest.......

#1 Post by Alan1 »

HI Guys, so whats the scoop on the model contest this year? Being that it will be taking place in a new hotel, will we get a little more respect with a good location, or will we be put in some room, on the --th? flood that nobody even knows about. The contest used to be a major thing at the show, i remeber tables and tables of kits for sale and in the contest!
Remember that Chiller was a model show before the bootleggers took over and people reduced their attention spans even more over the years to not be able to build model kits, and they continue to buy those crappy statues that every dealer sells.
I hope the Contest becomes the major draw that it once was.

MAN! I've been unable to travel for the last 5 years or so. I really miss going to Chiller, and I went there pretty much for the model show!

I think it is what you make of it. Model shows are only skimpy when folks don't represent! If everyone brought 3 or 4 buildups, there'd be plenty to see.

I alwya try to make the fall show just so I can do the model contest. However, with Chiller moving to a new location, even farther north than before, I don't know if I can continue to go. Ten hours on the road was bad enough. Now it's probably closer to 11 for me. I've been going to Chiller since the early '90s. It will be strange to stop going.

Woohoo! B.I.R. Representing! I've never made it to WF so Chiller and the Monster Modelfest were the only game that I could get to. MMF stopped happening years ago, so Chiller is THE place to be every October. I wish I weren't stuck here. Take lots o' pix!

We'll be holding it for as long as you guys support it and continue
to bring in those great looking buildups!

Again, check in on both Friday AND Saturday... don't wait in line.
Come straight up to the Ticket table with kit(s) in hand and get
your wrist band and get that kit up to the contest room.

This is my 1st time at the new location, so don't know where Kevin
is putting us until I get there. But have no fear... I've been bugging
Kevin not to forget about us so much, he now opens all conversations
with, "..Yeah, I know.. Model Contest!!"

I have all the certificates printed up... the fees have been adjusted to
cover just the 1st two kits now, so any over 2 are entered free.

Scotty, Alina, Jason, Dave, Bernie and I will be manning the room
all day/night long to make sure someone is there (in case you come
early and to make sure no one steals our tables) :) and make sure
everyone stops and says hi!

Judges will be selected as soon as I figure out who's there (and
still sober).

Again, Rotondi is buying this year, so we can party like drunken
sailors on his wallet!

I'd say no. Would seem to be taking advantage.

Lines for October are notoriously long. I can't wait to see what the new venue brings in.
Man lives in the sunlit world of what he believes to be reality.

If you want to see what i do for fun take a click, It may be disturbing.
