Old Mac user grumbles at the march of time.

#1 Post by rob_03 »

Hi,
I'm using a 7 yrs+ Mac Book. I've got the latest Hotmail/Outlook and it hates it.
It now hangs to the point of crashing, then hangs Safari after that.
It's also disabled the drag and drop facility, as has FB. In fact I now can't up load anything to FB without emailing it via gmail to my phone, then downloading it to up load it from there!
Things were simpler once. I guess a lot of this has to do with FB and these mega corporations wanting to own everything and constantly requesting data which they don't need and is none of their business!
Rant over.
Anyone else having similar issues?

Cheers

Are yo using an old version of OSX? That could matter, just as the version of Safari you are using because of that could. Or try another browser such as Firefox or Google chrome. I'm on the verge of having to decide how to go forward with my own MacBook Pro. I could try and upgrade- and risk losing use of my Adobe Suite due to the possible incompatibility with the newer OS. It's standard computer stuff when your system starts to age, not a just Mac problem really...

Thanks for the reply Mark. It is an old version, 10.6.8. which is as far as this goes I think. I will try a different browser. Out of interest, what are you thinking of up grading to?
Cheers

I haven't even been able to think much about it yet. I still like my laptop. I'm using 10.6.8 also. I've been considering upgrading my OS, but My whole Adobe suite is at a point that I'm afraid it will stop working. Or disappear- and I have no disks to reinstall it... tough choices.lol

I've also got a copy of photoshop elements, which I think I got as a download with a tablet!
I was wondering could you copy your adobe suite via Timemachine onto a hard disc and then onto a new mac. Or would it expect you to copy the operating system as well?
Either way good luck, I guess I'll jump soon! :)
