Yippee-Ki-Yay, Motherf****r!!

#1 Post by derekc62 »

My 'Kit of the Month' for May is the 1/6 scale solid resin figure of Bruce Willis as Det. John McClane from the original Die Hard.

The figure was sculpted by Mike Hill and released by UK producer Fifth Sense (OOP).

I tried to stay as 'film accurate' as possible including the walkie-talkie, hit list, color choices etc.

For those interested, you can see some of my reference photos in this thread: viewtopic.php?t=126543

Well done!!! Love the extra work you put in to "accurize" this kit - and love seeing you do a figure kit for a change of pace from the usual busts ... :alcoholic:

Fantastic work! You did a great job enhancing the likeness to Bruce. The tattoo, hair in various places and his arm checklist really take it to another level. Love it!

Thanks very much everyone.

This one's not staying in the collection. My nephew is a big fan of the film so it's off to him for his birthday.

Hey folks,

I've created a short YouTube video about this kit.
Not an instructional video - more of a short discussion of older kits like this one.

Great video. I also watched your painting video which is one of the better ones I've seen. Keep 'em coming!

Thanks very much guys.

My plan for the next instructional video is to add to the one I did on painting basic light skin colors. I felt I glossed over the use of washes and glazes to paint accurate skin tones. Once my current project is finished I thought I'd shoot a video on that part of painting skin.
